Sara Nasirov ‘06 - Queens, NY
High School History Teacher and Community Volunteer
After attending WITS/Maalot for her seminary year, Sara pursued her BA in Psychology and MA in Secondary Education in Social Studies- more recently, her second Master's in School Administration. She has been teaching for over ten years and is currently a high school history teacher at both Shevach and Hadar Bet Yaakov. She often intersperses her lessons with hashkafic ideas. For Sara, teaching is all about developing a relationship with her students, many of whom, years later, are still in touch with her. Sara is a ready mentor and friend, guiding her students through life's challenges, such as issues that come up in the workplace.
When Sara sees a need in the community, she steps right up, not waiting for others to take initiative. Sara has been actively involved in kiruv as a Hebrew school teacher and a mentor through Partners in Torah, Emet and Sinai Retreats. She was even involved in local politics serving as Election District Leader for the Queens Republican Party. She recently initiated the Queens Shidduch Initiative, a program for singles in their 30s and 40s, and has been a ready volunteer for the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation.
“I am so grateful for my experience in WITS/Maalot, the teachers, the level of learning, my fellow classmates, and I am still in touch with many of my teachers, Rabbi Heber, Rabbi Frankel, Rabbi Stengel, Rebbetzin Rosenbaum, Rebbetzin Feldman and Mrs. Badian for continued hadracha.”
