In 2013, after graduating from Maalot, Shana embarked on an academic journey that culminated in the achievement of her Master's degree in Special Education. She is currently a dedicated educator at Jewels, where her unwavering commitment is leaving an indelible mark on the lives of children who possess unique learning needs.

Throughout her years of teaching, Shana observed the challenges faced by her special-needs students and their parents during the summer months, as there were no specialized programs available to address their distinct needs. This deeply concerned Shana, prompting her to take action. Motivated by her passion for making a positive difference, she approached her supportive principal, Mrs. Bamberger, with a visionary proposal to establish a summer camp during what would have been her vacation time.

Mrs. Bamberger enthusiastically embraced the idea, and this past summer marked the second year of this remarkable program, named “Summer Jems”. Shana's unwavering dedication and her ability to "spread the light" have touched the hearts of all who have had the privilege of coming into contact with her.

“After graduating, I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do. When I settled on special ed, Mrs Lapidus really encouraged me to get my master’s through the University of North Dakota. It ended up being the best advice! As a student and afterwards as an alum, I always knew that the staff and faculty would be there for me. Without their encouragement and guidance, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
